I was rooting for the "R's" the home teams and in this town there is a lot of thrash talking and nonloyal, bandwagon fans. When I mean bandwagon, I mean people that seem to have a marching band on a jeep.
I got into a discussion with some buddy's cause they are Colts fans. I call them the "C**TS" fans..lol. Well technically the Colts were from Baltimore (1953-1984). But these guys never lived in Indianapolis nor Baltimore and they were like 5yo during an era that the Redskins were on top. So I question there fan credibility since they question me about me hopping on the football bandwagon. Since I dont follow football faithfully......the reason....I was focused on music....plus Football is not my favorite sport for many political reasons. Soccer and Boxing have always been my favorite sports to watch.
I was raised to like the Redskins. Win or Loose. I was born in DC, my parents worked in DC, and my grandmother was a big Skins fan. She got me my first Redskins jacket and jersey (Art Monk) and even got me a subscription to Sports Illustrated when I was like 8 years old. I was cised when I would see the Skins make the cover. I had many memorable moments as a Skins fans as a kid.
- I will never forget 87 and 91, big moments in my childhood to see your home team win the Superbowl.
- Seeing Doug Williams at Wheaton Plaza after the Superbowl signing autographs
- Seeing Mark Rypen at Disney World after he won the Superbowl
- Wearing a Redskins Jersey in South Beach, Miami and walking by T.O. (Cowboys) grin on me
- I went to middle school with Andre Carter (Redskins player until 2011)
2012 I had the chance for the first time in my life to go to a football stadium. I never had the money to buy tickets before or cared to buy the pricey tickets. The ironic thing is that I got paid to go to the Raven Stadium to play football with "POE". As I watched the painful last minutes of the Skins game on TV, I saw the stadium was already starting to get empty. Was it getting empty cause they couldn't take the pain of seeing the Skins loose or was it to fight that beltway traffic or was it cause they weren't true fans. If it was me and if I would have paid money to be there. I would stay there til the end. Til this day I have not been to FedEx Field or seen the Skins play.
